Raising a child with dyslexia can stir up a lot of emotions. You may look ahead and wonder if this learning issue will affect your child’s future. But dyslexia is not a prediction of failure. Dyslexia is quite common, and many successful individuals have dyslexia.

Research has shown that the symptoms of Dyslexia, dyspraxia and/or dysgraphia can all be resolved by taking part in the one-week Davis Correction Programme. Dyslexia directly affects a person’s ability to read, spell, write, comprehend or maintain focus.  There are many program and “Therapies” available in South Africa however, they fail to address the root problem, but Dynamic Learning Solution understands the thinking and learning style of every dyslexic individual and has proven techniques that correct the underlying problem - enabling these individuals to become avid readers. Students generally gain 2-3 reading grade levels at the completion of the one-week Davis Correction Programme.

Common Characteristics

Dyslexia affects nearly one in five people and early intervention can be invaluable. Dyslexia can affect boys and girls. The 37 Common Characteristics can serve as an early warning sign for young children and as well as, teens. Some characteristics may not be present in all dyslexic individuals as characteristics are often inconsistent, and may vary depending upon the day or situation. But, should 10 or more of the traits/behaviours be exhibited, you may want to research Dyslexia or seek an evaluation. In general, a formal diagnosis of dyslexia or any other learning disability is needed if the child requires accommodations or additional support at school.

Research

South Africas very own researchers at the University of the Free State in Bloemfontein, compared the progress of 18 dyslexic students who were given instruction using Davis Dyslexia Correction techniques with a control group of students from the same school. They reported that over a period of nine months, the Davis students performed significantly better on tests of word recognition skills and spelling than a control group of students taught with phonological strategies.
